about

“I have freed myself from a macroformal constructive rigor, which has allowed me to follow my intuition with confidence, and to discover poetry and sound universes I would have never thought of. Today, these universes go through processes, organic evolutions, timbre transformations and sound colors, which have allowed me to build a personal language.”

Thus manifests José Manuel López López, speaking of Simog / Civitella (2011), title which already warns interference between the inhabited soundscape - Civitella Ranieri castle, in Umbria - and the new landscapes explored by the Madrid composer in recent years. It still remains, of course, the same rigorous attention to organity of the overall result, but it is modeled from an almost corporeal consideration of its substance, drinking of the familiarity with electronic sound: the timbral possibilities of the template are expanded in a ‘friendly’ direction - vibrato, rhythmic heartbeat - which defines all the work until dissolved in a final percussive crackle.
